Today is DELIVERY DAY!

We are off to the hospital in about 10 minutes! We can't wait to welcome our SON into this world!

Tuesday, January 23

We're all set for Thursday!

We have both worked our last day, and we are all registered at the hospital! I left for my appointment at the hospital about 2:15 from work, and won't be back there as a full time employee for 12 weeks! YAY! I do have a few responsibilities to take care of sooner than that, but I am OK with that! Britt is off for the rest of this week, and the 2 weeks following.

We went to the hospital and made 3 stops. First, we went to administration to pre-register for our "stay." That went well. Since I was in the ER there about 2 months before Britt and I got married, all my info was in the system - just had to change my last name!

After we got done with that paper work, we went up to Labor & Delivery for a medical history and more paper work! The fun part of this step was that the nurse was the same nurse that taught the girls' siblings class and our breastfeeding class, so we already felt like we knew her! Plus, she took my blood pressure (140/72) and we listened to Baby Weaver's heartbeat (about 150 BPM). All is GREAT there! We got a tour when we were at the siblings class, but it was nice to get another one without 4 year olds in tow. We really have a nice facility, so we are excited.

After the tour and last minute surgery reminders, it was down to the lab. This was sure to be my least favorite part of the afternoon. But, God is good once again! The phlebotomist was the best I have had in YEARS! She asked me which arm - I told her to choose since it is always a challenge. She picked my right arm, applied the tourniquet, poked with her fingers twice, put in the needle with one try (NO PAIN), and filled the 2 vials she needed. I was SHOCKED! And THANKFUL! It was over before it began. She was realty chatty, too, so that was almost a FUN part of the day.

So, things are on a roll! I got a fun bracelet to wear that I have to keep on and keep track of until Thursday identifying my blood work. The girls keep asking about it. How I got it on there and how they'll get it off. LOL! We are 33.5 hours away from meeting our SON! We are excited about our relaxing day tomorrow with taking the girls to school and just hanging out with each other. I think we have a few little errands to take care of, but other than that we are READY TO GO!

Monday, January 22

Appointment - 38 weeks 1 day

BP: 132/72
Weight: 240 (-1)

Another short and sweet visit! All was well with all my vitals and other statistics. Even lost a pound! LOL!

Once the nurse was done with her tasks, the Dr. came in and we listened to the baby’s heartbeat, he measured me, then it was on to questions about Thursday! Sounds like we should meet our boy about 8:00am! We were just asking about time line and visitors and how this all goes down. It all is getting so close and so REAL now! We think we have everything all lined up for Thursday! My mom is keeping the girls Wednesday night, and they will be up at the hospital before I go back, so it should be cool for them as well!

Tomorrow we go to the hospital to fill out paperwork and do the “pre-op” visit. When I leave my office for that visit, I will not be back to work until my leave is over! Britt and I are both taking Wednesday off to relax and prepare. YAY!

While we were checking out, they had me schedule my 2 week post-partum visit. WOW! That seemed a little surreal… But, I am sure this will all feel real on Thursday!

Our last Lazy Saturday for awhile...

It's just a lazy day. The girls and Britt got up before I did, and we had a somewhat productive morning. Britt made cinnamon rolls for us for breakfast, and he went off to clean the 2 bathrooms. After us girls ate, Emma and Lara got dressed in Orange to go to the women's basketball game with Britt. While they were gone, I mopped all the hard surface floors in the house, and cleaned the fabric softener dispenser and agitator in the washer. SO EXCITING! It was nice to have the quiet house to get those things done, but I was sure glad to see them when they got back! We ate a quick lunch, then all ended up napping! It is snowing and raining and just grey and BLAH here today, so it has been nice! Everyone is up now, just hanging out!

So, I thought I would share a few of the pictures from Jake's room last week. We finished all the big stuff in there and took some new pictures. Here are some of the ones that really show off what we have done:

So, that's the room we will be bringing Jake home to in just a few days! As far as the pregnancy is going, things are great. Jake is a hiccupper! He has had them at least 2x a day for the past few days! And he is still moving around like CRAZY! I am really tired. I was supposed to work today, but because of the weather, and the fact that I am just WORN OUT, I pawned my duties out on other people. I am working all day Monday (we have a Dr's appointment that morning), then most of the day Tuesday until I go to my hospital pre-op appointment later in the afternoon. When I leave work for that, my maternity leave will have officially started! Britt and I are taking Wednesday for ourselves! YAY!

Hiccups... AGAIN!

Have I mentioned how often this sweet baby boy gets the hiccups? A least 2x a day! LOL! I know he had them late last night as I was watching the 2nd (of 3) OT periods in the OSU vs Texas basketball game. Then, he had them again a little bit later as I lay trying to get some sleep. And now - in the early morning. I woke up at 5 and had to pee, and I could not get back to sleep. Good thing, too, since my little man is rhythmically bouncing around in there again! Silly boy! I wonder if he will hiccup this much out of the womb?

Baby Funny (maybe a little TMI...)

So, I get up to go to the bathroom about 4 times a night now. FUN! But, I got a good giggle on one trip last night. Seems that every time I go sit on the toilet, I pass a little gas. No big deal - I mean at least I am in the bathroom and not disturbing anyone, ya know? Well, last night I did that as I sat down to pee, and I felt Baby Jake jump right as it happened. Like I startled him! For some reason, I thought that was hilarious! Just had to share...

Monday, January 15

Appointment - 37 weeks 1 day

BP: 132/76
Weight: 241 (+3)

10 days to go!

Today's appointment went well! Emma and Lara went with us since they were out of school, so they were excited to hear the baby's heartbeat again! The doctor told them it sounded like a choo choo train, or a running horse, or a washing machine. Lara told him it sounded like her brother's heart! LOL!

All was fine and normal - good news. We did freak the nurse out a little bit when I told her I had a few contractions last night! But, I had 4 in about a 1.5 hour time span - never closer than 15 minutes apart. And I was resting the whole time this was going on, so I knew it was no big deal.

Anyway - back in a week! We go to the OB on Monday, the hospital for paperwork on Tuesday, and BABY DAY is THURSDAY!

We wsent shopping after the appointment, and we got the CUTEST outfit to bring Baby Jake home in! I have also packed his bag, and thought about packing mine. We are getting closer!!!

Wednesday, January 10

Today I am thankful for...

Loving parents, Outstanding in-laws, Fed-Ex ground, and Monistat.

The first 2 are self explanitory. Fed-Ex ground got our crib to us in like 3 days, so we got to put it together last night and finish decorating the nursery. It looks GREAT! As soon as I get my computer at home back from the guy that is fixing it, I can post pictures. And for the Monistat as I have been battling the mother of all yeast infections since we were in Shreveport. It's my own fault for not calling the doctor sooner, but I am on day 2 of treatmeant and feeling MUCH better!

15 days!

Tuesday, January 9

Appointment - 36 weeks 2 days

BP: 140/76
Weight: 238 (-2)

All was well at the short appointment! No Group B strep test today like I thought, and no internal check. So, just the usual. Weight, urine, BP, listen to the hearbeat, measure, and out the door!

Emma and Lara got to come to the appointment with us. They were more interested in weighing themsleves and playing with the stickers the nurse gave them than anything else, but they did pause long enough to hear their brother's heartbeat! It was fun to be able to take them with us!

We go back next Monday!

Tuesday, January 2

Appointment – 35 weeks 2 days

BP: 126/56
Weight: 240 (+4)

Another short and sweet visit to the OB! Nothing exciting happening, so I just need to keep cooking this baby! Got to hear his FABULOUS heartbeat. Urine is fine, BP is good, weight gain is good!

He just said to keep an eye on things (since I lost part of my mucous plug last week) and that he will see me every week now. I am pretty uncomfortable, but you SEE how big (and low) this baby is, so it’s to be expected, I guess! LOL!

3 weeks and 2 days to go!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome to 2007!

Jacob Alan will be joining us this year – this MONTH even! We can’t believe it is already here!

Today, my parents are here helping us finish the nursery. Emma and Lara (after spending almost 24 hours stranded in Denver) are in Montana with their father, so we have “help free” time. I think my parents thought they would be here for a few hours – home in time for lunch. Well, they have been here since about 9:45, and it is now 3:00. Mom and I made a Wal-Mart run for baby supplies, batteries, and medicine and brought back burgers for lunch. The men finished the floor while we were gone (YAY!!!!!!!!), and were contemplating the crown molding when we got here with food. After we ate, us girls started MORE laundry, and the guys stared the molding. But then ran into some complications. Basically, they are at Lowe’s now – seeking help! LOL!

But, by tonight, the floor and molding WILL be done. Britt hopes to seal the changing table and dresser tonight, so we can move those pieces of furniture, plus the glider rocker, in tomorrow morning. The dresser drawers are done, so my mom and I have filled them (and the closet) with the laundry we have been doing. I am 99% sure I have washed everything I will need for the first few weeks. I think she wants me to pack my bag for the hospital (and Jake’s), but I am just not ready for that yet! I still have 3+ weeks!

The room is AWESOME! I can’t wait to get some more things in there so I can snap some pictures. We were all just standing there visualizing it and LOVING it a little while ago! Won’t be long now!
